When looking at your onsite SEO, the first area that needs your attention is each page title, this is the first area Google looks at to decide whether or not the page is important for a keyword or phrase.

Your Keywords or phrases should be the title of the page and should reflect the content. Don’t use the same title or more than one page and make sure the title is relevant to the content. Using a keyword or phrase that has nothing to do with the content below will result in poor ranking and Google may decide that the page is “spammy

The most common mistake made is to call a page by the menu title is Home, About us or Services, whilst factually true all it means is that you will be competing with millions of other websites for these terms, even if you were lucky enough for your website to rank highly for them it won’t help the majority of businesses, unless of course these are your keywords.

Make sure that each page has its own unique title and is relevant to the content on that particular page this will help Google when indexing your website and will also give you the option of optimising your website for more keywords and phrases.
